My Angels & Airwaves

For about two years I have planned on writing a “book” of short stories consisting of the feelings I got while listening to the Angels & Airwaves CDs. Even on their fourth release every song has been a cohesive story in my mind about an Earth that was forced to evacuate into space due to war. I said I would write it eventually and now that I have nothing to do I am. It’s funny because @trevso_electric tweeted today “I would describe Angels & Airwaves’ sound as “guy named Brad in a Hollister in space, jogging slow motion after his one true love.” My story has no comedy so I apologize but I figured I would post the first “chapter” and if you have the song Valkyrie Missile you can tune in to get the proper feel. I should warn you that it isn’t final and that’s good because there are a lot of people wearing Hollister who would want to steal this material. Also read it slow to get the full effect. Also don’t read it.

Chapter 1: Valkyrie Missile

They edged their way into the Valkyrie and checked all the instruments. Everything seemed to be correct as they prepared to leave the place they knew their entire lives. The ignition button is pressed and the rockets blared. Thinking back on everything they were leaving behind they knew that this was the only option. Sure this was a scary thing to do but it also had a tinge of excitement. Leaving Earth is not something many people have the opportunity to do, but it must be done. The smoke billowed out from under the space ship as they shot off into the sky. Everything was whizzing by them as they broke through the atmosphere and into blackness. They rocketed across the sky looking out the windows in wonder. Stars littered the galaxy as they traversed the infinite. A daughter gets scared and her dad grabs her hand and smiles. Above all else they had each other. There many people on this ship and all of them have their reasons for leaving but their goal is the same: start over. The stars twinkled at them as Earth looked like a distant memory. Their Valkyrie Missile ventured on.

A wasted vote, is voting for someone that you don’t believe in.

Breaking Bad’s Ending

Even though there are three episodes and one more summer of Breaking Bad, I think I know what happens.

Walt’s family gets killed by Jesse because Jesse finds out Walt poisoned that kid. Then Walt flees and has his name changed as per the first episode, to Hal and he runs off to a city that is never mentioned and starts over. He meets a lady named Lois and begins a normal life, shaving his beard and growing his hair. He then has four children. Boom Malcolm in the Middle.

What if we are all robots already, and my nose is always ready for your holding

Lights Out

The rain pours down on the soaked street as droplets join around my window. The final episode of season one of The Avengers illuminates my room. As Iron Man arrives in Asgard and yells “Avengers Assemble!” the TV goes black. The room goes black. The house goes black. The neighborhood goes black. The hum that encompassed my everything now hums nothing. All is silent as my phone sheds a flicker of aid to my vision. I grab foam Mjolnir as if I am to ward off any intrusion but it’s only to pacify the child in myself. The hallway is dark but I manage to acquire a lighter and light my candle. By now I make the wise decision to shower by just that very light and the terror that ensues in grand. I am alone and naked in a quiet house as a train horns in the distance. Power should have found its way to my residence by now but it has other plans this night. I read Daredevil by the candle light as he ironically battles Mole Man underground in darkness. I am not alone. I grow weary and lay down to sleep as passing cars spray by on the wet road. The rain has ceased so a neighbor sees fit to ignite fireworks in the street. For a second my room is brightened, but sometimes a flicker of what was and could be is worse than what is. They have given up their pyro endeavor and now the quiet rules this night. No sound triumphs over another; they all seem to be hiding, perhaps with the power. It’s lights out this eve and I pray they return.

The powers out in my house and I am alone. Hope you liked my puffed up story about it.

Can’t We Have Both?

For those of you that don’t know, I am a libertarian and I have been trying for the life of me to figure out who to vote for. First off, I’ve never voted, but secondly, neither of the candidates appeal to me. I don’t like Mitt because he is too flip floppy, but so is President Obama. Mitt wants to cut spending but he also wants to ban gay marriage. Obama doesn’t mind gay marriage but he won’t cut spending (or at least not as much as I like). The list goes on and on and so did the search for a candidate. Ron Paul has been on my radar but I don’t want to write in a candidate although he is a fantastic man.

It wasn’t until tonight that I found out about a man named Gary Johnson. He is a libertarian and according to the news, was just elected as the party leader. His big things are that he already has a plan in place to cut spending, since he did that so much while he was governor. He wants to legalize marijuana which is amazing because while I don’t smoke, I think that’s a great way to prevent crime and to help our economy, and so does he. He thinks that anyone should be able to get married and his stance on abortion is that it is up to the people. His main jib, along with libertarians, is the the government needs to stay out of the way. It needs to focus on the big issues like crime and not the little ones like marriage.

What annoys me is that no one seems to see this side. Everyone has to have it black or white and no one seems to want it grey. Republicans are good for the economy but bad for personal freedom (although they pledge to be all for that sort of stuff when it comes to guns, land, ect). And Democrats are good for personal freedom but bad for government because they think everyone needs to be taken care of. Why can’t we have both? No Gary Johnson will not win but how cool would it be if he did. A lot of things would get better, but people are too hung up on proving their points to other people who want to prove the opposite point. Gary, Libertarians, and myself are here to prove both points can co-exist.
