My Angels & Airwaves
For about two years I have planned on writing a “book” of short stories consisting of the feelings I got while listening to the Angels & Airwaves CDs. Even on their fourth release every song has been a cohesive story in my mind about an Earth that was forced to evacuate into space due to war. I said I would write it eventually and now that I have nothing to do I am. It’s funny because @trevso_electric tweeted today “I would describe Angels & Airwaves’ sound as “guy named Brad in a Hollister in space, jogging slow motion after his one true love.” My story has no comedy so I apologize but I figured I would post the first “chapter” and if you have the song Valkyrie Missile you can tune in to get the proper feel. I should warn you that it isn’t final and that’s good because there are a lot of people wearing Hollister who would want to steal this material. Also read it slow to get the full effect. Also don’t read it.
Chapter 1: Valkyrie Missile
They edged their way into the Valkyrie and checked all the instruments. Everything seemed to be correct as they prepared to leave the place they knew their entire lives. The ignition button is pressed and the rockets blared. Thinking back on everything they were leaving behind they knew that this was the only option. Sure this was a scary thing to do but it also had a tinge of excitement. Leaving Earth is not something many people have the opportunity to do, but it must be done. The smoke billowed out from under the space ship as they shot off into the sky. Everything was whizzing by them as they broke through the atmosphere and into blackness. They rocketed across the sky looking out the windows in wonder. Stars littered the galaxy as they traversed the infinite. A daughter gets scared and her dad grabs her hand and smiles. Above all else they had each other. There many people on this ship and all of them have their reasons for leaving but their goal is the same: start over. The stars twinkled at them as Earth looked like a distant memory. Their Valkyrie Missile ventured on.
